Into the Grid

Have you ever wondered about where you live? When was it built, who designed it, and why is it called what it is? We can help!

Using our archive collections of historic documents and images, our pilot project has created factsheets about two of the grid square estates in Milton Keynes, which are packed with information about the history of each area, interesting facts and archive images. See below to download them. The pilot was part-funded by Milton Keynes Heritage Association and Milton Keynes City Council, and part-funded from our own funds.

The process for the pilot has given us templates and guidelines for creating more factsheets for other areas in the future. We hope to be able to involve community members and local residents in future creations, helping them learn even more about their area and opening up access to local archives.
