Into the Grid

Have you ever wondered about where you live? When was it built, who designed it, and why is it called what it is? We can help!

We’ve been awarded a grant from the Milton Keynes Heritage Association funded by Milton Keynes City Council to embark on a pilot project to create factsheets on the grid square estates of Milton Keynes. The project will research and create factsheets for two grid square estates – Fullers Slade and Great Holm.

The factsheets will be packed with information about the history of each area – when it was built, who designed it, what’s the background to its name, interesting facts, historic images and much more. Designed to be fun, visually appealing and easily accessible, the sheets will be available as physical copies and digital downloads. They will collate information in one easy place for local residents and interested researchers.

The process for the pilot will also give us templates and guidelines for creating more factsheets for other areas in the future. In creating these, we hope to be able to involve community members and local residents, helping them learn even more about their area and opening up access to local archives.
