Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre Anti-Racism Statement

At Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre, we believe in the values of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.

Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre confirms its unequivocal abhorrence of and opposition to racism against Black and Minority Ethnic people and discrimination in all its forms. Being an anti-racist organisation includes zero tolerance for anti-semitism, Islamophopia and any form of religious or faith-based discrimination. We are against all racism, against all peoples.

We believe in the diversity of thoughts, ideas, beliefs, experiences, and the inclusion of people regardless of their race, colour, sex, language, national origin, religion, orientation, gender, disability or age. Our anti-racism statement is as follows:

Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre is an anti-racism organisation, committed to ensuring that an environment where there is zero tolerance for racist comments or behaviours. Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre defines being an anti-racism organisation as creating an environment where all employees, stakeholders, partners, customers and volunteers, regardless of race or the colour of their skin, know they are valued. We acknowledge that racism can be unconscious or unintentional and we recognise that disadvantage can occur as a result of unconscious bias, and our aim is to have measures in place to deal with this should it occur. As an anti-racism organisation we will identify, discuss and challenge issues of race and colour and the impact(s) they have on the organisation, its systems, and its people. We will also challenge ourselves to understand and correct any inequities we may discover within Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre and gain a better understanding of ourselves during this process. Being an anti-racism organisation is a journey and it is the learning along the way that makes this work worth all of our efforts.

Our goal is to create and maintain an environment where all stakeholders feel safe to discuss race and the importance it has on our organisation and our lives outside of work. Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre will continue to discuss and deepen our understanding of race and racism; we will provide Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training for all staff and volunteers, in addition to that already offered; we will have a clear complaints procedure and will continue to update all employment and other policies so that they remain current.
