Outreach Work

Milton Keynes City Discovery Centre is committed to extending its outreach provision as we realise that it is sometimes difficult to arrange educational visits. Whether for reasons of cost, class size or timetable constraints, it may on occasion be necessary for teachers to find an alternative to the traditional ‘school trip’.

Activities offered by MKCDC will be tailored to fit the needs of your class and can be delivered from Year 1 and above, covering Geography, History and Citizenship. Whether you would like an hour long interactive presentation or a whole day of activities, we are able to meet most educational needs.

Milton Keynes Day

If you would like to use Milton Keynes for your Contrasting Locality but are unable to visit we are able to arrange a 'virtual tour' at your school. A whole day of activities will include an introduction to Milton Keynes and a comparison with your local area. We will look at how Milton Keynes, as a planned New Town, differs from other areas and how we would plan a new town. Children will finish the day by designing their own grid square using the lessons and skills they have learnt throughout the day. On booking we will send you details of suggested preparatory activities to carry out in school.
