The original objectives
The master plan for Milton Keynes specified six key objectives: - Opportunity and Freedom of Choice: citizens to be offered wide range of opportunities in education, work, housing and culture
- Easy Movement: easy access throughout the city and flexible transport systems
- Balance and variety: a mix of housing types plus an avoidance of social segregation where all the rich live in one part and the poor in another
- An Attractive City: includes life style quality as well as aesthetic appearance
- Public Awareness and Participation: tell people what is happening and provide opportunities to hear individual opinions
- Efficient and Imaginative Use of Resources: ensuring the best use of financial and natural resources
