All our available sessions support the key concepts of the Key Stage 3 Geography Programme of Study; Place, Space, Scale, Environmental Interaction & Sustainable Development, Physical & Human Processes, Interdependence and Cultural Understanding & Diversity. They enable students to use and extend a range of geographical skills in a safe environment.

Settlements & Change

A three hour session comprising one hour introductory presentation and two hour study tour of Milton Keynes. The study tour includes survey work with all activity sheets supplied. The session looks at how settlements develop, contrasting the new town development, of Milton Keynes, with more traditional development patterns. There is a choice of focussing on either housing or service provision. The housing option examines the choices to be made when deciding upon a site for residential development. The services option uses the example of retail to explore service hierarchy within settlements
