2. Planning a sustainable city

An introductory presentation comprising:

some models and definitions of a sustainable city

brief overview of the planning and policy tools which may be used to create a sustainable city

an evaluation of MK as a sustainable city

emerging issues .

Evaluating Milton Keynes using modernist, post modern and Marxian perspectives

an introductory presentation comprising:

brief introduction to the development of Milton Keynes

MK as an example of modernist planning and architecture

MK as a post-modernist city

A Marxian perspective

Study tours

Presentations and lectures are followed by a 2 hour study tour of Milton Keynes
